What to expect at your first appointment
Seeing a physio for the first time can feel like a step into the unknown, especially if you’ve been putting it off for a while. Here’s how it works for clients coming to us from Rowledge.
- Your Initial Consultation. This takes about an hour. You share your story and health history, and we carry out a thorough examination of your painful area and the areas around it.
- Your Report of Findings. Within a day or two, we explain what’s going on, set your goals, give you your personalised care plan and start your first treatment.
- Your course of treatment. Hands-on treatment, exercise and advice, matched to your goals. We check your progress regularly and adjust the plan as you improve.
- Your home programme. Simple exercises to do between sessions, so you keep making progress on your own.
How long it takes depends on you and what we find. We’ll give you an honest idea of timescales once we’ve assessed you, and if we think another professional is better placed to help, we’ll tell you and refer you on.
How we work with clients from Rowledge
We don’t just look at the spot that hurts. We look at how you move as a whole, what your days involve, and what you want to get back to. Then we build a plan around you, not around a diagnosis.
Many of the people who travel to us from Rowledge have already tried rest, painkillers or a few sessions elsewhere. If that’s you, any doubts are completely understandable. We take time to understand what hasn’t worked so far, explain clearly what we find, and agree realistic goals together.
Our team includes physiotherapists, graduate sports therapists and sports massage therapists, so your plan can combine the approaches that suit you. Most people have a mix of hands-on treatment, exercise and practical advice, plus a simple home programme to keep progress going between sessions.
