What is a Physiotherapist?
Physiotherapists are university trained and are experts in injury diagnosis, injury treatment, exercise prescription, injury prevention, rehabilitation and many other areas of sport and health and fitness.
Is it safe?
Yes! Statistics show that physio is safer when compared to other treatments such as steroids, pain medication and surgery. A thorough exam can identify the rare person for who Physio may be unsuitable.
What will my first visit entail?
For your first consultation, we will discuss your issues and how they're affecting your life and we will complete a thorough examination. At the second appointment, we will discuss our findings with you and give you a bespoke care plan that will fast track you in the right direction.
What should I wear to my appointment?
There will be points in your examination where you may need to undress so your therapist can get an accurate picture of your movements and posture. Please don’t feel the need to bring additional clothing; however, should you feel more comfortable bringing shorts etc to change into you are more than welcome to do so.
What Are The Covid Protocols?
Due to the current regulations, we ask that a face-covering/mask be worn inside the building. If you have any issues with face coverings then please let us know beforehand. The clinic has implemented all necessary Covid 19 safety measures including full PPE, temperature checks, regular contact cleaning with medically approved products and much more. To get a full list of our protocols, please get in touch.
Do I have to be referred by a doctor?
No, physiotherapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However most health insurers require a doctors referral before they authorise cover of fees, some only require a phone call.
The length of each physio stage will depend on the type of injury you have. Our brilliant physiotherapists will set you a bespoke Lake Therapy Care plan to suit your needs when you start with us so that you know how long the process will be.
